We are required to comply with the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Act 2009 (“the AML/CFT Act”).
The Purpose of the Act is to detect and deter money laundering and the financing of terrorism; and to maintain and enhance New Zealand’s international reputation by adopting, where appropriate in the New Zealand context, recommendations issued by the Financial Action Task Force; and to contribute to public confidence in the financial system.
In order to comply with the AML/CFT Act and before we can start work we are required to obtain and verify the following information:
For Individuals:
- Current and valid passport or NZ Driver’s Licence along with the birth certificate, a bank statement (of less than 3 months old) or a credit card with embossed name and signatures; and
- Proof of address (a utility bill or a bank statement, less than 3 months old).
- Information regarding source of funds, if purchasing a property.
For Trusts:
- Current passport and Proof of address for each trustee (as per the requirements of individuals above); and
- Information regarding source of funds/wealth for the Trust.
For Companies:
- Details of the Company;
- Current passport and Proof of address for each director and shareholder(as per the requirements of individuals above); and
- Information regarding source of funds/wealth for the Company.
